What had provoked the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia to be reported to have responded as follows in the New Straits Times?:
PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia has been cooperative with refugees who made their
way to this country, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said
yesterday.
However, he added that Malaysia could not open the floodgates to these people.
"Otherwise, there will be serious problems. Already, we are facing
problems with illegal immigrants in Sabah, one of the contentious
issues highlighted by the Sabah Progressive Party.
"How much more do we want to be liberal? I do not agree with the findings of the report."

Instead of embarking on a witch-hunt which many Malaysian bloggers have been perceived (whether rightly or wrongly) by some to do (see here, here and especially here ), let us see the contents of the report the DPM was referring to, The World Refugee Survey :
This June for World Refugee Day, be part of the Hands of Hope movement in support of refugees.
It’s hard to imagine what it must be like to be a refugee. To see your village torn apart by war. To escape under horrific conditions to an unfamiliar land where you don’t speak the language. To be alone, surrounded by strangers, not knowing who you can trust, not knowing what tomorrow will bring.
